Coordinate the Innovation Unit of Banco de Portugal's Payment Systems Department, where she has contributed to the development of innovative solutions for the Portuguese payment market. Of particular note is her participation in the implementation of new services, such as beneficiary confirmation and SPIN, and in the operationalisation of Portugal FinLab, a communication channel between innovative entities in the financial sector and the supervisory authorities. Sara is also part of the Eurosystem's work on the potential issue of a Eurosystem central bank digital currency (Euro Digital).
Sara joined Banco de Portugal in 2008 and has accumulated experience in various areas, including the Behavioural Supervision Department and the Markets and Reserve Management Department. Before that, she worked as a market risk analyst at the Treasury and Public Debt Management Agency - IGCP and at Caixa Económica Montepio Geral.
Degree's in Economics from the University of Coimbra and a master's degree in Finance from ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, where also completed the curricular part of her PhD in Finance.
