Rui Moreira de Carvalho

Rui was born in Mozambique in 1962. Degree's in engineering from ENIDH, a master’s degree from ISEG and a PhD from ISCTE. Between 1992 and 1995, he served as Deputy Secretary of State for Trade (Portugal). From 1996 to 1997, he was Head of the CDI (Centre pour le Développement Industriel) office in Brussels. From 1997 to 2003, he worked at I.P.E. – Investimentos e Participações Empresariais, serving as its representative in Mozambique from 2000 to 2003. He has held management positions in companies in Portugal, Mozambique and Brazil.
He has taught at IESSF (Porto), ISPU (Mozambique), INDEG/ISCTE and Veiga de Almeida University (RJ – Brazil). He is an associate professor at ISG and Lusófona University. He has edited the following books: “Compreender África”, 2003, also published in Brazil by FJV (RJ) in 2005; “Parcerias”, 2009; “Compreender + África”, 2010; “A Força das Coisas”, 2014; and “Dilema das Alianças”, 2019.
From 2009 to 2019, he served as an advisor to the Board of Directors of CGD. He was Chairman of the Supervisory Board (CF) of Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol, SAD from 2013 to 2018. Since 2017, he has been Chairman of the Board of the Portugal-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of ENIDH Alumni.
