Renowned international expert in Placebrand and Place Marketing for cities and regions, as an integral part of governance and focusing on urban and regional planning. CEO of For the Love of Place (Netherlands), he has been involved in over a hundred projects, including cities such as The Hague, Oslo, York, and Ghent, and regions such as the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, North Brabant Province, Veluwe, and the Wadden Sea area. He is vice Chairman and founder of the leading global Placebrand association, the IPBA-International Place Branding Association, based in the Netherlands. He is also an advisor to The Place Brand Observer and chief advisor to European Cities Marketing, excelling in UrbAct, Interreg, and UNWTO. He teaches at the University of Groningen,and has published several scientific articles and book chapters He is frequently invited as a keynote speaker and guest professor at various institutions in countries around the world.
