Luís da Costa Ferreira has over 30 years' professional experience in regulation and supervision.
He is currently Director of the Prudential Supervision Department at the Bank of Portugal, whose mission is to guarantee the safety and soundness of the Portuguese Banking System, within the framework of the Single Supervisory Mechanism. He is also an alternate member of the Supervisory Board of the European Central Bank.
In 2015, he created the Risk and Regulation consultancy area at PwC Portugal and led it until February 2017. During this period, he coordinated several internal governance and risk management projects aimed at improving the resilience of various financial institutions.
Between July 2013 and November 2014, he was Director of the Prudential Supervision Department at Banco de Portugal, after having been deputy director between February 2012 and June 2013, having held various positions in this department since joining in 1994.
He has a degree in Management from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG) and a postgraduate qualification in Corporate Finance from INDEG-ISCTE.
