Gabriel Stumpf

PhD in Transport Systems from the MITPortugal programme, a partnership between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, Lisbon). His research focuses on public procurement, public-private partnerships (PPP), sunshine regulation and risk management related to public transport systems and infrastructure. He was a guest researcher at CPIP - Cornell Programme in Infrastructure Policy (Ithaca, NY) and has published scientific articles in the world's leading transport journals. He holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a master's degree in Transport Engineering, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He began his career designing transport infrastructure (roads and railways) in Latin America. He also has experience in transport planning and regulation, having supported several public sector clients in launching tenders for the concession/contracting of public transport in Brazil and Portugal. Over the last 10 years, he has had the opportunity to participate in projects in Latin America, Europe and Africa, advising public and private sector clients in various areas of the transport sector, such as urban buses, flexible transport, river transport, railways, roads and ports.
