Abel García Abejas

He holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Extremadura (UEx, Spain) and is a specialist in General and Family Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in Bioethics and is certified in Palliative Medicine by the Portuguese Medical Association.

He holds a PhD in Medicine from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Beira Interior (FCS-UBI), where his research focused on dignity, end-of-life care, Palliative Medicine, bioethics and digital transformation in healthcare.

He is a Guest Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior, where he teaches Medical Ethics and Bioethics, Medical Humanities, History of Medicine and Palliative Medicine.

He also practises at Hospital Lusíadas Lisboa in the areas of General and Family Medicine, Oncology and Palliative Medicine, and chairs the hospital’s Health Ethics Committee.

He is a member of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research (CEIC) and participates in national and international research and discussion initiatives in the fields of bioethics, research ethics, Palliative Medicine, dignity and artificial intelligence applied to healthcare.

He is the author of several scientific articles and essays published in these fields.
